چکیده
Excellent irradiation resistance is the basic property of nuclear materials to keep safety. The high-entropy design has great potential improve materials, which been proven in alloys. However, whether or not high entropy can also ceramics, especially mechanism therein still needs be uncovered. In this work, and helium (He) behaviors zirconium carbide (ZrC)-based ceramics (HECs), i.e., (Zr0.2Ti0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2W0.2)C, were investigated compared with those ZrC under 540 keV He ion a dose 1×1017 cm−2 at room temperature subsequent annealing. Both (Zr0.2Ti0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2W0.2)C maintain lattice integrity after irradiation, while irradiation-induced expansion smaller (0.78%) highly thermodynamic stability than that (0.91%). After annealing 800 ℃, exhibits residual 0.20% expansion, shows only 0.10%. Full recovery parameter (a) achieved for both 1500 ℃. addition, meantime brings about favorable structural evolution phenomena including bubbles are evenly distributed without abnormal coarsening aggregation, segregation, shorter sparser dislocation. excellent related high-entropy-induced phase stability, sluggish diffusion defects, stress dispersion along production vacancies by valence compensation. present study indicates carbides applications.

متن کاملDeuterium retention and desorption behavior of reduced activated ferritic steel with surface damage due to high energy helium ion irradiation
Reduced activation ferritic-martensitic steel F82H was irradiated with 5 keV helium ions to introduce the surface damage. After the irradiation, the irradiated F82H was continuously exposed to 1.7 keV deuterium ions. The effects of the damages introduced by the helium ion irradiation on deuterium retention and desorption behavior of F82H were investigated. The HD desorption had a peak at around...
متن کاملEffect of high-flux, low-energy He+ ion irradiation on Ta as a plasma-facing material
The goal of this work is to assess Ta as a potential plasma-facing material for future fusion reactors in terms of its response to high-flux, low-energy He+ ion irradiation. Ta samples were irradiated with 100 eV He+ ions at various fluences up to 3.5 × 1025 ions m-2 while simultaneously heated at constant temperatures in the range 823-1223 K. SEM studies show that irradiated Ta surfaces underg...

Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) on the helium ion microscope (HIM) promises higher lateral resolution than on classical SIMS instruments. However, full advantage of this new technique can only be obtained when the interaction of He(+) or Ne(+) primary ions with the sample is fully controlled. In this work we investigate how He(+) and Ne(+) bombardment influences roughness formation and p...
